AI Search

Zero-click search.

Definition

The canonical answer.

A zero-click search is a query that ends without the searcher visiting any website, because the results page or an AI answer satisfied the intent directly. As AI answers absorb more informational queries, the strategic response is to be the source the answer quotes and to concentrate site effort on the commercial queries that still produce clicks.

Worked example

In practice.

A brand notices impressions rising while clicks stay flat: its content is feeding answers users never click through. The countermove is twofold: structure content so the answer carries the brand name, and shift measurement toward branded demand, mentions, and assisted pipeline rather than raw sessions.
