Definition
The canonical answer.
AI visibility is the measurable presence of a brand inside AI-generated answers: whether the major engines mention it, how they describe it, and which competing brands appear in the answers where it should. It is tracked by running a fixed set of buyer-intent prompts across engines on a schedule and recording mentions and citations over time.
Worked example
In practice.
A team tracks fifty prompts monthly across five engines. The report shows which prompts name the brand, which name competitors instead, and how the description drifts. Movement in that panel, on repeated identical prompts, is the honest read of whether AI search work is working.
