How Google Preferred Sources works

You do not need us to use it. Preferred Sources is a free Google Search setting that decides which publishers lead your Top Stories, and the same choice tailors your AI Overviews and AI Mode. Here is how to set it yourself, whoever you choose to add.

1

Open Google and select your profile picture. Top right of google.com or the Google app.

2

Go to Search personalization, then Source preferences. Search for any publisher and tick its checkbox.

3

Deselect the same checkbox to remove one. Reload your results and the change is live.

What is Google Preferred Sources?
A free Google Search setting that lets you choose which publishers get surfaced more often in your Top Stories. Google says the same choice also tailors your AI Mode and AI Overviews. It is per-person and it changes only what you see, never what anyone else sees.
How do I add a preferred source in Google?
Two ways. Inside Google: open google.com or the Google app, select your profile picture or initial at the top right, go to Search personalization, then Source preferences, search for the source you want and tick its checkbox. Or from this page: press the button above and Google confirms in a small window while you stay here.
How do I manage or remove my preferred sources?
The same place you added them: profile picture, Search personalization, then Source preferences. Select or deselect the blue checkbox to the right of a source name and reload your results. Nothing here is permanent and you can change it as often as you like.
Do I need to be signed in to a Google account?
Yes. Google stores the preference on your account, which is what makes it hold across every browser you sign into. If you are signed out when you press the button, Google asks you to sign in first.
How many sources can I add?
Google does not publish a limit. Source preferences is a list you tick rather than a single choice, so adding one publisher does not remove another you already picked. Google does note that sources which are not updated regularly may not be available.
Does it cost anything?
No. Preferred Sources is a free Google Search setting. There is no signup, no form and no email involved, on Google’s side or ours.
Why would I add Strataigize?
Because the thing you would be seeing more of is published, sourced work: mobile app growth benchmarks, paid media teardowns and case studies where every figure traces back to a post you can open and check. If that is not what you want more of in your Top Stories, do not add us.

Steps and behaviour above are Google's own, from Preferred Sources in Google Search and Google's announcement. We are not affiliated with Google; this page just makes adding us a one-click version of step 2.

Need the team, not just the insights?

Strataigize runs growth for mobile apps and builds AI agents for businesses that want workflows automated properly.
