Integrating Adjust for Campaign Optimization

Adjust is a mobile measurement partner (MMP), owned by AppLovin since 2021, that tracks installs, in-app events, and revenue across every channel you buy. Integrating it with Meta, Google Ads, Apple Ads, and X Ads gives you one consistent source of attribution data, so you can compare channels fairly, feed conversion signals back to the networks, and move budget toward what actually converts.

Why Use Adjust?

Adjust has been owned by AppLovin since April 2021 and continues to operate as a distinct measurement brand in 2026. The platform now centers on Datascape, Adjust’s analytics and reporting suite, with Pulse for automated alerts and Growth Copilot, an AI assistant for measurement questions. Underneath all of that, Adjust tracks the three numbers that matter for paid user acquisition:

  • Installs
  • In-App Events
  • Revenue

If you are still choosing a measurement partner, start with our primer on what a mobile measurement partner (MMP) is, or compare setups with our AppsFlyer integration guide.

Pre-Integration Checklist

Before integrating Adjust with your ad platforms, ensure the following:

  • Adjust SDK Implementation: Adjust’s software development kit (SDK) must be integrated into your app, and kept current: Apple’s attribution frameworks are changing quickly (more on that below).
  • Administrative Access: You have admin access to both Adjust and the ad platforms.
  • Active Campaigns: Campaigns must already be set up and running on the respective platforms.

One navigation note before you begin: Adjust has consolidated partner setup into Campaign Lab in its current dashboard, so menu paths in older guides may differ from what you see. Adjust’s help center has the live click-by-click steps for each partner.

Integrating Adjust with Ad Platforms

1. Integrating Adjust with Meta Ads

Setup Process

  • Open Partner Setup: Log in to Adjust, open Campaign Lab, and select Meta as the partner.
  • Data Sharing: Enter your Meta app ID in Adjust to enable data sharing with Meta. For Android campaigns, provide a decryption key to enrich raw data.
  • Event Mapping: Map in-app events in Adjust to Meta’s standard or custom events. Event-based bidding on Meta depends on this mapping.

Advanced Features

  • Advanced Matching: Use Adjust’s advanced matching to share hashed user data (e.g. email or phone number) with Meta for better audience targeting and measurement.
  • Deep Linking: Implement deep links or universal links through Adjust so a tap lands on the right screen, whether or not the app is already installed.

2. Connecting Adjust to Google Ads

  • Link Accounts: In Adjust, open Campaign Lab, select Google Ads, and input your Google Ads Link ID to establish the connection.
  • Enable Data Sharing: Configure Adjust to send relevant data, such as in-app revenue and event parameters, to Google Ads for attribution and optimization.
  • Event and Parameter Mapping: Automatically map Adjust events to Google Ads events or customize mappings as needed. Adjust also supports mapping SDK parameters to Google Ads for enhanced tracking.

Optimization and Reporting

Adjust supports Google’s attribution methods, including:

  • Google Click Identifier (gclid)
  • gbraid parameter for iOS

These keep attribution privacy-compliant and accurate even where device-level data is unavailable.

3. Apple Ads Integration (Formerly Apple Search Ads)

Apple renamed Apple Search Ads to Apple Ads in April 2025 as placements expanded beyond search results to the Today tab, the Search tab, and app product pages. The Adjust integration works the same way it did under the old name.

Setting Up Apple Ads

  • API Credentials: Retrieve your Apple Ads API credentials and input them into Adjust’s Apple Ads partner setup.
  • Enable Attribution: Set up Adjust to receive attribution data from Apple Ads. Configure event mappings to track installs and in-app events effectively.

Advanced Optimization

  • Cost Data Integration: Track cost, clicks, and impressions directly from Apple Ads to perform detailed performance analysis and budget optimization.
  • Placement-Level Analysis: With more placements available since the rebrand, judge Today tab and product page spend separately from search results when you review performance.

4. Integrating Adjust with X Ads (Formerly Twitter Ads)

Setup Process

  • Partner Configuration: In Adjust, open Campaign Lab and select X Ads, then log in with your X Ads account and authorize Adjust to manage campaign data.
  • Attribution Windows: Set click-through and view-through attribution windows in Adjust to align with your X Ads campaign goals.

Advanced Features

  • Re-engagement Tracking: Track re-engagements by configuring specific lookback windows for both click-through and view-through attributions.
  • In-App Event Postbacks: Map your in-app events in Adjust to X Ads events so you can measure and optimize post-install actions such as purchases or sign-ups.

How Adjust Attribution Works in 2026

Adjust’s default model is last-touch attribution: the last clicked ad gets credit for the install, which remains the mobile industry standard. On top of that, Adjust offers multi-touch measurement as a complementary view for analyzing assisting channels, useful when upper-funnel media like connected TV (CTV) influences installs that a last-click report would credit elsewhere. Used together, these views help:

  • Identify the impact of each channel on user acquisition.
  • Allocate budgets effectively to the highest-performing channels.

On iOS, plan around Apple’s privacy frameworks. Apple shipped AdAttributionKit in iOS 17.4 (March 2024) to cover the App Store and alternative app marketplaces, then positioned it at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) as the successor to SKAdNetwork and kept expanding it through iOS 18. As of 2026 the two frameworks run side by side while ad network adoption catches up (Apple documents the interoperability rules), so keep your Adjust SDK current, configure your conversion values deliberately, and expect iOS numbers to mature more slowly than Android’s.

The Settings We Actually Run, and What They Cost

We run Adjust on Sad Panda Studios’ Crush Crush, on a 7-day click and 24-hour impression window. That pair is the whole argument of this page in two numbers, so it is worth saying what it buys and what it gives up.

Our first cohort there was 55,978 installs across 1 to 30 May 2026 on $18,347 of spend, and by day 90 it had returned 252% of that spend in net revenue against a 130% one-year target. The day-30 forecast we froze at day 7, about 194% blended, came in at 188%. Read off the client’s published dashboard, net of store fees, revenue through 10 September 2026.

Now the part a settings guide usually skips. Those percentages are only meaningful next to the window that produced them. A 7-day click window is short enough that a slow-converting channel looks worse than it is and long enough that a re-engagement click can steal an install from organic. Widen it and the same cohort’s ROAS improves without a single thing changing in the campaigns. So the window is not a default to accept on install day, it is a decision you are making about which channel gets the credit, and it should be written down next to every number you report.

The operational consequence is the one that costs money: judge nothing inside the attribution tail. The most recent days of any window under-report and keep filling in afterwards, so a channel that looks dead on Tuesday can be fine by Friday. We check the date range and the window before every optimization pass and again between steps, and we treat a figure inside the tail as provisional rather than acting on it. Cutting spend on an immature window is the most expensive mistake available in this tool, and it looks exactly like diligence while you are making it.

Best Practices for Adjust Integration

To make the most of Adjust’s capabilities, follow these best practices:

  1. Consistency in Data Sharing: Use uniform naming conventions and data-sharing settings across platforms so reports line up instead of needing reconciliation.
  2. Regular Syncing and Updates: Ensure that your Adjust setup is regularly synced with updates from ad platforms to maintain attribution accuracy.
  3. Continuous Monitoring and Optimization: Use real-time data from Adjust to track performance and identify underperforming campaigns.
  4. Verify Windows Before Judging Results: Confirm the date range and attribution window behind every report, especially on iOS where postbacks lag, before you cut or scale anything.

FAQ

Who owns Adjust?

AppLovin acquired Adjust in April 2021 in a deal reported at roughly $1 billion, and Adjust continues to operate as a distinct measurement brand within AppLovin as of 2026.

Does Adjust still integrate with Apple Search Ads?

Yes, under a new name: Apple renamed Apple Search Ads to Apple Ads in April 2025. The Adjust integration works the same way: connect your Apple Ads API credentials, then map events for attribution and cost reporting.

Is Adjust last-touch or multi-touch?

Adjust attributes installs on a last-touch model by default, the mobile industry standard, and offers multi-touch measurement as a complementary view for understanding assisting channels.

How long does an Adjust integration take?

In our experience, connecting a single ad platform takes under an hour of configuration once the SDK is live. The real time cost sits in event mapping decisions and testing postbacks end to end, so budget a few days for validation.

Connect Every Platform Before You Judge a Channel

Until Adjust is wired into Meta, Google Ads, Apple Ads, and X Ads, every channel comparison you make is four networks marking their own homework. Connect them, map the events once, and the four sets of numbers finally sit on the same terms. Adjust gives you flexible attribution reporting, fraud prevention, and an analytics suite that keeps changing under AppLovin, and it will show you which campaigns are carrying the account. Deciding what to cut is still your job. At least now the data behind that decision is yours rather than the network’s.

An MMP integration is measurement plumbing, and the return on it comes from the campaigns it informs. Our Adjust implementation overview explains the event mapping, revenue checks and campaign handoff we work through. If you want the paid acquisition run against the data Adjust gives you, rather than alongside it, that is the work we do every day. Getting Adjust to agree with the store consoles is mobile data and attribution.
