Attribution window.

Definition

The canonical answer.

An attribution window is the period after an ad interaction during which a conversion is credited to it, such as 7-day click or 28-day click. Windows define the meaning of every reported number, and recent cohorts under-report by design because conversions keep arriving until the window closes.

Worked example

In practice.

A campaign looks unprofitable on three-day-old data inside a 28-day window, gets cut, and the revenue that was still maturing lands after the funeral. The discipline is written windows per decision: state the window and the data age on every report, and never judge spend on numbers still filling in.
